Connecting Your Dealer Management System (DMS)

Ready to streamline your dealership operations by connecting your Dealer Management System (DMS) via API? Here’s how to do it:

  1. Check Your Subscription: Connecting your DMS via API is available for premium subscriptions. Here’s how to upgrade your subscription.
  2. Log In: Start by logging in to your DealerPoint account.
  3. Access My Data: Click on the user icon located in the top right corner, and select “My Data” from the dropdown menu.
  4. Initiate Connection: Look for the option to “Connect your DMS” and give it a click.
  5. Choose Your DMS: Select the DMS you’re connecting to. Currently, we support Lightspeed and Lizzy, with more connections like DX1 coming soon.
  6. Provide Connection Details: Depending on your DMS, you’ll need to enter specific connection details.
    1. For Lightspeed, you’ll need your Dealer ID (CMF), Username, and password.
    2. For Lizzy, simply enter your API key.
  7. Verify Connection: Once you’ve entered your details, we’ll verify your API connection and permissions. Be patient and avoid refreshing the page during this process.
  8. Confirm Data Import: After verification, you’ll see the “My Data” page with three sections:
    1. Importing sales data
    2. Importing service data
    3. Importing parts data.
    4. Each section will display a date indicating the progress of data import.
  9. Completion: Your data import is complete when you see three green check marks, one for each data set.
  10. Explore Enhanced Features: With your DMS successfully connected, head over to the ELV Dashboard to access your baseline and live data, and explore the Customers table for valuable insights into your dealership operations.
