Saving the Powersports industry
The name OCD originated as a code name for this project. It stood for Omni-Channel Dealer. We (Max Materne & Danny French) didn’t know what to call it, because we didn’t know what it was… but we knew it was needed to save an industry. Monumental task? Yes. The most challenging part is defining what IT is. The second most challenging part is determining where to start.

What qualifies us to address the struggles of powersports dealerships
We both came from the Powersports industry at young ages; motorcycles specifically. Max owned and operated a dealership for several years as did I (Danny). We became close friends when I worked for Max as a Parts Specialist, prior to moving to my shop full time.
Identifying potential
We could see the potential for our neglected industry by peaking into neighboring industries. We’d pine over technology platforms and countless other resources not applicable to our very specific industry needs. We’d vent about the perpetual technician shortage, staff turnover, payroll expense, the never ending task of writing processes for the staff to follow… the list goes on.
Creating a solution
Identifying the fundamental problem of the issue we are facing
These venting/dreaming sessions tended to take place on hazy nights as we bouncing around New Orleans. After years of screaming at the sky (and each other) we realized that we’re not going to heal the industry by continuing to add band aids to our dealerships.
We decided to go all in and search for the root of the problem. To do so, we held two (intense) two-day meetings, in-person in New Orleans. Attending these meetings were highly regarded executives from major manufacturers, distributors, large dealer groups (Powersports, Marine and RV) as well as an expert in sustainable scaling. These attendees all volunteered their personal time and insight to explore the pitfalls and possibilities the industry faces.
From the meetings it was determined the first thing we needed to do would be to develop a research strategy. Whatever it is must be supported with data, not anecdotal hunches. To determine the data needed, we had to agree on the over-arching problem: Customer Experience in the Powersports, Marine and RV industries is not good. All of the ancillary problems that we face, individually, feed to a below-average (at best) Customer Experience. The focal point of the research strategy had to be the customer. We were ready to start building.

Our Goal
Overall, the OCD Platform serves as a comprehensive cloud-based hub that promotes cohesion within the powersports and marine industries. It empowers dealership users with analytics and operational tools through DealerPoint, enabling them to monitor and improve their business health. Additionally, VendorPoint allows third-party stakeholders to collaborate with OCD and develop actionable tools for dealerships, fostering stronger partnerships and driving industry-wide progress.
